Women’s Golf places third at Dolores Black Invite Athletics


BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Cleveland State Women’s golf team placed third overall as the group concluded the final round of the Dolores Black Invite at the Stone Ridge Golf Club on Sunday.

The Vikings followed up their opening-round 22-over (310) with an improved second round of 13-over (301), an improvement of nine strokes. Cleveland State finished as the top Horizon League school at the tournament and knocked off squads from Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan and Ohio, among others.

Sabrina Coffman paced the group in a tie for fourth overall after rounds of 75 and 73 for a tournament total of 4-over. She ended the Dolores Black Invite tied for seventh with five birdies and tied for 12th with 23 holes of par. Coffman also tied for the tournament lead with a 1-under on par 3s and tied for fourth with a 3-over performance on par 4s.

Right behind was Madison Butler who came in eighth at 6-over after two straight rounds of 75. Butler tied for fourth in the field with 25 pars and tied for 15th with three birdies.

Meg Rossouw jumped 10 places on the final day to a tie for the 13th overall as she recorded rounds of 79 and 75 for a 10-over. She tied for eighth with 24 holes of par and also added two birdies. Both birdies came during Sunday’s final round.

Mandie Ruminski (15-over) and Olivia Swain (22-over) rounded out the CSU scoring attack. Ruminski finished with 20 pars and three birdies while Swain added 14 holes of par and two birdies.

Lexi Knight also competed as an individual and finished tied for 25th at 12-over. She posted back-to-back rounds of 78.

As a team, Cleveland State finished tied for third at the tournament in both birdies (15) and pars (106).

The Vikings will have one final tune-up before the Horizon League Championships with the Youngstown State Match, set for Friday, April 15 at the Youngstown Country Club.
