Women’s Golf Finishes Third at Yellow Jacket Invitational

Beaulieu posts top ten finish with a two-day score of 169 for Skyhawks

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (April 19, 2022) – The Stonehill College Women’s golf team returned to the links for the first time in over a month and posted a third place team finish at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by the American International College, on the par-72 layout at Ledges Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday.

Stonehill, which saw four rounds in the low 80s on Monday, sat second to Franklin Pierce University by just four strokes after the first round with a 329 team score behind the Ravens 325. Franklin Pierce followed up his first round score with a 326 on Tuesday to take the team title by 28 strokes with a final score of 651 (325-326), with Adelphi University finishing second (334-345 = 679) and Stonehill third (329-354 = 683), while Assumption University took fourth (361 -367 = 728). The College of Saint Rose’s Erika Fuentes won the individual medalist with a two-day score of 157 (75-82) for a three-stroke win.

Senior Emma Beaulieu finished the two-day tournament tied for ninth out of 40 competitors with a 169 total for Stonehill, following up a first round 83 with an 86 on Tuesday. Classmate Sloane Van Zanen posted the Skyhawks lowest score of the tournament with an 81 for a tie for fifth place on Monday, finishing with a two-day score of 170 after a second round 89 to finished tied for 11th overall.

  • Juniors Julia Dapron and Emily Kase finished tied for 15th in the field with two-day scores of 172. Dapron’s 82 on Monday was Stonehill’s second-lowest round of the day and followed with a 90 on Tuesday, while Kase carded an 83 and 89 on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
  • Freshman Mollie Thomas closed out Stonehill’s top five with a score of 187 (93-94) to finish 26th overall.
  • Sophomores Hannah Pignato and Emma Casey each competed as individuals for the Skyhawks at the event. Pignato placed 29th with a score of 188 (89-99), while Casey finished 34th at 196 (99-97).

Stonehill will return to action next week when it wraps up the spring season by hosting its Spring Invitational on Sunday and Monday, April 24-25, at The Ranch Golf Club in Southwick, Massachusetts.
