What channel is Rangers Vs. Penguins on today? Game 1 TV schedule, live streams, start time for 2022 NHL playoff game

Two Metro Division foes go head-to-head in the first round as the Rangers and Penguins get set to kick off their series tonight.

The Rangers come in with one of the youngest groups in the league, with Adam Fox and Igor Shesterkin leading the way. Shesterkin has been particularly impressive this season, finishing first in both save percentage and goals against average in the league. He’s likely on his way to his first ever Vezina Trophy win.

New York’s retool is complete. The team missed the postseason three out of the last four seasons with the one exception being 2020 when they made it in as the No. 12 team in the East for the expanded qualifying round. However, they now look like a strong dark horse candidate to make a serious run.

For the Penguins, they’ve been a perennial playoff team since the arrival of Sidney Crosby. But this feels like it may be Pittsburgh’s final run as a group. The club has a number of impending free agents this offseason, including Kris Letang and Evgeni Malkin.

Pittsburgh starts out this series without goalie Tristan Jarry, who is out with a lower-body injury. In his place will be Casey DeSmith, who is getting his first ever taste of postseason play.

“Everything stays the same as far as the mindset,” DeSmith said ahead of the game. “Just another hockey game. Just have to show up, play my game. “
