TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) – Amy Bond, who’s Seminoles will play host to the NCAA Tallahassee Regional Championship May 9-11 at the Seminole Legacy Golf Course, has been named to the Division I Jackie Steinmann WGCA National Coach of the Year Watch List. She is one of 20 coaches – and one of only three from the ACC – who has earned the Honor of being named to the list of the nation’s top coaches in Women’s Golf.
Bond has led Florida State into the regional round of the NCAA Championship for the 16thth consecutive tournament. The Seminoles won the first regional championship in school history as they claimed the title at the NCAA Louisville Regional Championship in 2021 and have finished in the top three in each of the last five regional championships.
The Seminoles finished in second place in the 2018 NCAA Tallahassee Regional Championship – the most recent time Florida State Hosted the Regional Championship. The Seminoles also hosted the 2014 Regional Championship.
Three of the coaches on the WGCA Coach of the Year Watch List bring their teams to Tallahassee and the NCAA Regional Championship – Bond of Florida State, Kalen Anderson of South Carolina and Carrie Forsyth of UCLA.
Bond, the winningest Coach in Florida State history, has led the Seminoles to two tournament Championships this year. The Seminoles (men’s and Women’s team combined) won the Championship at the Inaugural Barbara Nicklaus Classic in the fall, and the women won the Championship at the Moon Invitational in February. Florida State has finished in the top five in six events this year, including a second place finish at the Florida State Match Up at the Seminole Legacy Golf Course.
The Seminoles are led by senior Beatrice Wallin and Amelia Williamson (who will both play in the third NCAA Regional Championship) along with sophomores Charlotte Heath and Alice Hodge (who will compete in the regional championship for the second time in their careers).
Admission and parking are free at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional Championships. Fans are encouraged to walk the beautiful new layout at the Seminole Legacy as the 12 teams and six individuals vie for four team spots and two individual places at the NCAA Championship Finals at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., May 17-25.
