Tyrone man allegedly sexually assaulted minors | News, Sports, Jobs

A Tyrone man faces charges after he allegedly sexually assaulted two minors, one at a camp near Reservoir Park and the other in a tree stand near Janesville Pike, both in Snyder Township.

Dion Edwin Bonsell, 40, was arraigned Monday before Magisterial District Judge Fred B. Miller on four felony charges of aggravated indecent assault, two felony charges of corruption of minors and three misdemeanor charges of indecent assault.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Bonsell took one child, who was 8 or 9 years old at the time, to a camp near Reservoir Park. There he allegedly yelled at her and ordered her to strip down.

The victim said Bonsell stared at her as she stood there with her arms across her body.

Bonsell then yelled at her to put her clothes back on, the complaint states.

That incident occurred in the summer or fall of 2014 or 2015, the victim told police.

The second victim told police she was 7 or 8 years old when she went archery hunting with Bonsell and, when she said she was cold, Bonsell told her to strip down.

Bonsell allegedly took the second victim’s sweatshirt and T-shirt off before taking her jeans and leggings off, leaving her underwear and socks on.

The victim stated Bonsell put his hand under her underwear and wiggled his fingers around.

Bonsell allegedly said he was tickling her and then asked what it felt like.

The victim told Bonsell to stop, and he replied, “It’s OK, it’s not bad,” before continuing to touch her, the complaint states.

Bonsell stopped when the victim again told him to stop and pushed his hand away, according to court documents.

Bonsell then allegedly touched her leg before putting her clothes back on and repeatedly telling her not to tell anyone.

During an interview with state police, Bonsell allegedly admitted to touching one victim but said it wasn’t for sexual purposes.

When asked about the second incident, Bonsell said he didn’t think the girl was at the camp with him by herself.

Bonsell was unable to post $ 75,000 cash bail and was remanded to the Blair County Prison. He is scheduled to appear before Miller for a preliminary hearing May 10.
