Sycamore Golf Wraps Up Indiana State Invitational with Third-Place Finish; Two in Top 10

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State Women’s Golf finished its first home event in two seasons with a third-place finish and two players in the top-10 individually. Chelsea Morrow (79-75 = 154) closed out the 36-hole event in ninth place while Kristen Hobbs (79-76 = 155) finished tied for 10th to pace the Sycamores.

Morrow and Hobbs each put together strong efforts Monday as Morrow shot four strokes better than round one, including a trio of birdies. Hobbs finished three strokes better than her day one score while accounting for two birdies and a front-nine score of one-over-par. After a first-round 74, Molly Lee posted an 82 in the final 18 holes to finish 12-over par and just outside the top-10 in 12th-place.

Continuing to play through an injury, Lauren Green posted an identical 80 to finish 16-over for the tournament. Madison Branum shot an 82 to finish 16-over. Both Green and Branum tied for 23rd overall.

Iyoun Chew put together another nice day on the course competing as an individual. The Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia native posted a 78 Monday to finish 13-over on their tie for the 14th overall. Grace Welty also competed unattached and posted a final day 87 to finish tied for 38th.

Green Bay took the team title after shooting a 32-over over the two-day event. The Phoenix were 10 shots better than second-place Evansville (618) while ISU finished the tournament 47-over-par for Thirds place.

Green Bay’s Isabelle Maleki took the individual title after shooting just six-over through the day. She improved 15 spots on the Leaderboard Monday after going one-under on the par-72 course.

The Sycamores are currently scheduled to return to the course this weekend with a trip to Normal, Illinois on April 8-9. Impending weather could play a factor on the current format and other tournament details.
