He further said that with this massive mandate, people have reaffirmed their faith in the party’s development journey under the guidance of the Prime Minister.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi also thanked the voters of Guwahati for giving a “resounding mandate” to the BJP and congratulated CM Sarma as the trend showed BJP’s victory in the Guwahati Municipal Corporation election.

In reply, Sarma said, “We are immensely grateful to you Adarniya Pradhan Mantri ji for your good wishes and blessings. This has been a result of your astounding vision and robust development initiatives in the North East. Guwahati is profusely in gratitude. ”

Other BJP leaders also congratulated Sarma on the party’s victory in the municipal election.
Union Minister Kuren Rijiju wrote, “North-East goes with Narendra Modi Ji who cares for them. People of Guwahati show the way again. Congratulations to BJP for the resounding victory under the leadership of dynamic CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Ji. ”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also took to Twitter to congratulate CM Sarma and BJP state president Bhabesh Kalita and other party workers.

Polling in 57 wards out of 60 wards of GMC was held on April 22. The BJP had won the other three wards unopposed. A voter turnout of 52.80 percent was recorded in the elections.
The counting of votes for the GMC election began at Moniram Dewan Trade Center in Guwahati at 8 am.
