Patriot League Men’s Golf Championship Begins Friday (4.28.22)

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The 2022 Patriot League Men’s Golf Championship begins on Friday, April 29 at the par-72, 6,655-yard Steel Club in Hellertown, Pa. Lafayette will host the eight-team field that includes Army West Point, Bucknell, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lehigh, Loyola Maryland and Navy.

TOURNAMENT DETAILS AND LIVE SCORING: The three-day, 54-hole Championship is scheduled to tee off at 8 am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with the eight teams playing 18 holes each day. INDIVIDUAL HONORS: The competitor with the lowest three-round score will be an individual medalist in the Patriot League Men’s Golf Championship. The top five finishers are named to the All-Patriot League First Team, with the next five finishers making the second team. Patriot League men’s golf head coaches will vote on the 2022 Patriot League Player, Rookie and Coach of the Year at the conclusion of the Championship.

CROWNING A TEAM CHAMPION: Each of the eight participating teams consist of six golfers, with the top-four scorers in each round counting toward the team score. The final team score will be determined by totaling all completed rounds. Individual scoring consists of the lowest aggregate score of all completed rounds.

NCAA MEN’S GOLF REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIERS: The Patriot League team champion will receive the League’s automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Men’s Golf Regionals. The individual medalist at the Championship will also receive a bid if they are not on the Championship team. The NCAA Regionals will be held from May 16-18 at six sites around the country. The 2022 NCAA DI Men’s Golf Selection Show will be on Wednesday, May 4 on the Golf Channel at 4 pm ET.

BERRY LEADS RETURNING ALL-PATRIOT LEAGUE SELECTIONS IN THE 2022 FIELD: Six All-Patriot League honorees from last season’s Championship will return to the field in 2022, including individual medalist Brandon Berry, a graduate student at Loyola Maryland. Lafayette senior Kazuki Osawa, Lehigh junior Sam Barton, Navy junior Keegan Shreves tied for third at last year’s Championship to earn first-team All-League honors. Lafayette junior Ryan Tall and Navy senior Nicholas Klock both made the second team. Colgate sophomore Dugan McCabe Returns after claiming Patriot League Rookie of the Year honors last season.
