Men’s Golf Set For Aggie Invitational

The North Texas men’s golf team gets back to competition with a return trip to the Aggie Invitational in Bryan, Texas.

THE EVENT: The Traditions Club will play at 7,227 yards, and will be a par-72 course for the tournament. The two-day event begins on Saturday and will conclude on Sunday, with tee times each day between 7:30 and 9:30 am

THE FIELD: There are 12 teams participating in the tournament: No. 10 Arkansas, Baylor, Houston, Kent State, No. 43 Little Rock, No. 40 Louisville, no. 32 New Mexico, Northern Illinois, North Texas, No. 23 Texas A&M, No. 7 Texas Tech and UTSA.

REPRESENTING UNT: Competing for the Mean Green will be Vicente Marzilio, Tucker Allen, Viktor Forslund, Lenny Bergsson and Diego Prone. Sean Wilcox will compete as an individual.

RESULTS: Live results will be posted on Full recaps from each day of the competition will be posted on at the end of each round.

LAST TIME OUT: North Texas finished 13th at The Hayt last week, when the Mean Green were led by Marzilio, who finished tied for 30th after shooting 5-over par.

STRACKE SAYS: “The Aggie always has a strong field mixed with a very challenging golf course,” UNT head Coach Brad Stracke said. “You have to be patient when you play The Traditions course. Tee shots are a premium and the course setup makes you play away from a lot of hole locations. I’m looking forward to a great test of golf this week.”

INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR: The Mean Green feature six international players this year. Lenny Bergsson (Iceland), Viktor Forslund (Sweden), Nikhil Gopal (South Africa), Zak Karkaletsos (Spain), Diego Prone (Argentina) and Vicente Marzilio (Argentina) round out the international players.

UP NEXT: North Texas will compete in the Conference US Championship on April 25-28 in Texarkana, Texas.

NEW FACILITY: The Mean Green golf programs are thrilled to break in their brand new Bruzzy’s UNT Golf Practice Facility, the new $ 3 million on-campus facility that features state-of-the-art technology such as TrackMan, swing catalysts, indoor hitting bays, a short-game area and a PuttView indoor putting green.
