Jones Named to Conference USA Men’s Golf All-Academic Team

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall men’s golf junior Tyler Jones was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team, the league office announced Thursday.

Jones was also honored as an All-Academic Team selection in 2021.

“I’m so happy for Tyler,” Herd head Coach Matt Grobe said. “He deserves this Honor. Tyler excels in the Classroom and on the golf course. He is a great teammate and provides leadership. He works very hard it is nice to see him rewarded for all that hard work.”

The Westerville, Ohio, native has been a star on the course and in the Classroom since they first came to Huntington as a freshman in 2019. Jones is a three-time member of the Conference U.S. Commissioner’s Honor Roll and a three-time recipient of the Academic Medal for a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better. He holds a 3.92 overall GPA as a management major while setting records on the golf course.

This season, Jones has played all 10 tournaments, 29 rounds, leading into the Conference USA Championships, April 25-28. He leads the team with a 71.45 stroke average and was the top finisher for Marshall five times, including the last four in-a-row. Jones has four top 10 finishes and five in the top 20 this season.
