Golf season warming up in Galesburg area

GALESBURG – If the 2022 spring weather ever turns, it could be a banner year for golf in the Galesburg area.

The city’s public course, Bunker Links is coming off the busiest year in recent history, Lake Bracken County Club will celebrate its 100th anniversary and Oak Run Golf Course in Dahinda has plans to toast its 50th year in operation to highlight activity for this year.

Weather permitting, Bunker will try to top the $ 578,782 in revenue it collected last year at 28,826 rounds played. Revenue was over $ 100,000 more than collected in any of the previous five years and rounds played were over 3,500 more than any of the previous five years.

“It’s been the second worst March for the weather since the eight years I’ve been here and by far the worst April,” said Bunker Links general manager and golf professional Bryan Luedtke.
