A position of strength under Mark Dantonio has been a position of weakness for the Spartans under Mel Tucker. Michigan State football struggled heavily in the kicking department last season, and Tucker and his staff are using multiple avenues to fill that hole on the roster.
On Wednesday, 2023 kicker Tarik Ahmetbasic announced that he will be joining the Spartans as a preferred walk-on (PWO).
Ahmetbasic currently plays for Chippewa Valley in Clinton Township. This is the second PWO commit this week (Cooper Terpstra was the other) for the Spartans and both players were previously committed to Grand Valley State University before deciding to bet on themselves and join the Spartans and try to earn a Scholarship later on.
